The majority of the 14,000-acre Chickasaw State Park is natural forest but 1,280 acres has been setup aside for recreational use. There are over 100 campsites in all, ranging from RV hookup areas to sites geared for visitors with horses, in addition to 13 six-person cabins and a Southern cuisine restaurant open on select nights. The park sits 20 miles south of Jackson and encompasses the The Bear Trace at Chickasaw golf course.
