The majority of the 14,000-acre Chickasaw State Park is natural forest but 1,280 acres has been setup aside for recreational use. Many miles of hiking and mountain biking trails range throughout the beautiful trees, and many visitors come for the fishing on Lake Placid, which yields primarily crappie, bass and catfish. There are over 100 campsites in all, ranging from RV hookup areas to sites geared for visitors with horses, in addition to 13 six-person cabins and a Southern cuisine restaurant open on select nights. The park sits 20 miles south of Jackson and encompasses the The Bear Trace at Chickasaw golf course.
Open year round.
Free entry. Overnight rates vary.
